MT5 Forex Chart Time Frames: Periodicity on Forex Charts on MetaTrader 5 Software
Periodicity is commonly referred to as Forex Chart Time Frames by many traders. On the MT5 forex trading platform.
The button below is used to choose the periodicity or forex chart time frame to trade with. This button can be accessed on the MT5 software as illustrated below.

- 1 Minute Chart Time-frame - M1
- 5 Min Forex Chart Time-frame - M5
- 15 Minute Forex Chart Time-frame - M15

- 1 Hour Forex Chart Time-frame - H1
- 4 Hours Forex Chart Time-frame - H4
- Daily Forex Chart Time-frame - D1
- Weekly Forex Chart Time-frame - W1
- Monthly Forex Chart Time-frame - MN
How to Know Which Forex Chart Time-frame You are Using
A common question especially if you're new to forex trading would be how to identify which forex chart time frame you are using on your MT5 forex trading platform:
There are various methods of knowing which MT5 chart time frame you are using as Shown below:
Use the above Menu as Shown above
In the above forex trading example once you select the periodicity button under the charts menu, then the list of forex MT5 chart time frames is shown and the forex chart time frame that is currently selected, the one that you are using will be highlighted with a different color, on our above example this is the 1 Hour(H1) forex chart time frame, whose Icon on the left is highlighted in light blue.
How to Use MT5 Periodicity Toolbar - MT5 Chart Change Chart Timeframe
This MT5 periodicity MT5 toolbar is by default located at the top of the MT5 software and has all forex chart time frames marked as shown below. The chart timeframe that a trader is using will be marked differently from the other forex chart time frames, the selected forex chart time frame will be "indented" as shown below:
Use the information displayed at the top left corner to get MT5 Chart Timeframe
At the top left corner of the forex MT5 chart, the MT5 chart time frame is displayed as shown below:

When you open a forex chart you can then use the above three methods to know which periodicity - forex chart time frame you are trading with.
You can also use the tabs, if you are trading many forex charts. To view this tab, Go to "View Menu" then Select "Charts Bar". The following MT5 bar will appear that you can use to navigate and it indicates the currency pair as well as the forex chart timeframe.
