Periodicity on Charts Menu in MetaTrader 4
MetaTrader 4 XAUUSD Chart Time Frames; Multiple Time Frame Indicator
Periodicity is commonly referred to as XAUUSD Chart Time Frames by many traders. On the MT4 software.
The button below is used to choose the periodicity or gold chart time frame to trade with. This button can be accessed on the MetaTrader 4 platform as shown below.

On MT4 platform these gold chart time frames are:
- 1 Min XAUUSD Chart Timeframe - M1
- 5 Min XAUUSD Chart Timeframe - M5

- 1 H XAUUSD Chart Timeframe - H1
- 4 Hours XAUUSD Chart Timeframe - H4

- Monthly XAUUSD Chart Timeframe - MN
How to Know Which Gold Chart Timeframe You are Using
A common question especially if you are new to gold trading would be how to identify which gold chart time frame you are using on your MT4 platform:
There are various methods of knowing which MetaTrader 4 gold chart time frame you are using as Shown below:
Use the above Menu as Shown above
In the above xauusd trading example once you select the periodicity button under the charts menu, then the list of MetaTrader 4 gold chart time frames is shown and the xauusd chart time frame that is currently selected, the one that you are using will be highlighted with a different color, on our above example this is the 1 Hour(H1) gold chart time frame, whose Icon on the left is highlighted in light blue.
MetaTrader 4 Multiple Timeframes On One Chart - Multiple Timeframe In One Chart
This MT4 periodicity toolbar is by default located at the top of the MetaTrader 4 platform and has all the xauusd chart time frames marked as shown below. The chart time frame that a trader is using will be marked differently from the other gold chart time frames, the selected gold chart time frame will be "indented" as shown below:

At the top left corner of the xauusd MetaTrader 4 chart, the MT4 gold chart time frame is displayed as shown below:

When you open a gold chart you can then use the above 3 techniques to know which periodicity - gold chart time frame you are trading with.
You can also use the tabs, if you're trading many xauusd charts. To view this tab, Go to "View Menu" then Select "Charts Bar". The following MetaTrader 4 bar will appear that you can use to navigate and it indicates the xauusd as well as the xauusd chart time frame.
