Required margin is the cash your broker needs to open a position. It's shown as a percentage.
What's Equity? : XAUUSD Equity is the total sum of capital you've got in your trading account.
What Constitutes Used Margin? : Used Margin is the capital allocated from your trading account that has already been committed towards the purchase and opening of a contract - specifically, the contract currently visible and active in your open trade position transactions. As a trader, this specific sum is inaccessible for executing any subsequent trades because it has already been allocated and is no longer free for use.
To put it differently, because your online trading broker has opened a position for you using borrowed money, you, as a trader, must keep this used margin as security so you can keep using the trading leverage your broker gave you.
What's XAU USD Free Margin? : XAUUSD Free Margin is the amount of money on your trading account that you can use to open new trades. Free Margin is the amount of money on your account that hasn't yet been leveraged because you haven't yet opened a trades with this funds - this Free Margin is also very key for you because it enables you to continue holding your open trade positions as illustrated and shown below.
Example of What is Margin in MetaTrader 5 Trading
The margin examples on MT5 below, the set leverage option is 100:1, the margin which is 1% is $2683.07 - therefore the total amount that is controlled by the trader is: $268,307 - this is because with this leverage the trader has used little of their own capital & borrowed the rest from their broker, with this leverage option set at 100:1, the Gold trader is using 1 % of their capital, this 1 % is $2683.07 - if 1% is $2683.07 dollars then 100 Percentage is $268,307
